In a minor surprise, the Jets were not awarded any players off waivers on Sunday. The waiver moves today were from players who were part of their respective teams roster cutdowns over the weekend.
The #Jets were not awarded any players on waivers. At the same time, none of their cuts were claimed by other teams. They can begin to assemble a 16-player practice squad, led by QB David Fales.

It isn’t immediately clear whether the Jets placed claims on any players who were awarded to other teams with a higher priority in the process.

Rich Cimini notes a potential reason for the lack of waiver claims not just by the Jets but across the league.
Waiver claims down this year, likely because of COVID-19 protocols. Takes a few days before teams can get new players in their buildings and on the practice field. #Jets

I figured the Jets would be active on the waiver wire with so many parts of the roster in need of an upgrade. I am surprised by the lack of activity even considering the unique circumstances.
That said, it is important to remember the players who are available on the waiver wire. They have been let go by other teams. The Jets were not going to fix their roster through the waiver wire. It merely provides opportunities to improve depth and find developmental players.
