Jets Waiver Claim and Practice Squad News and Live Updates 9/6

Today initial waiver claims will be processed in the NFL. The Jets and other teams will have a chance to claim players with less than four years of service time in the NFL who failed to make yesterday’s final cuts.

It would be a surprise if the Jets were not active on waivers given the needs of the team. Wide receiver in particular seems like a position where the Jets are likely to put in claims on players. Of course the players claimed are likely to be more depth pieces than impact starters, but this is a way for teams to improve themselves.

Additionally, we are likely to see teams start signing players to their practice squad. Once players go unclaimed they are eligible to sign for the practice squad. This year teams may sign up to sixteen players for their practice squad, and six of the spots can go to players with any level of experience.
