It’s week three of the 2020 NFL season and the New York Jets are on the road against the Indianapolis Colts.
The Colts come into this game with the NFL’s #1 ranked defense and a top 12 offense. After a disappointing start to the year in a loss to their division rivals, the Jacksonville Jaguars, the Colts put together an impressive performance last week in a blowout 28-11 win over the Minnesota Vikings. Led by newcomer Philip Rivers at quarterback and rookie sensation Jonathan Taylor at running back, this Colts team can hurt you on the ground and through the air. Combined with their #1 ranked defense this makes the Colts a tough opponent, unless they beat themselves with turnovers, something Rivers has been known to do.
The Jets have opened the season with two straight games under 280 yards of total offense. With a receiver group that does not belong in the NFL, a 178 year old Frank Gore starting at running back, and an offensive line that has struggled and will be starting two backups today, it’s difficult to envision the Jets #32 ranked offense having much success against the league’s #1 ranked defense. If the Jets are to have any chance in this game, it will likely be because the defense and special teams had great games and the Jets caught some breaks.
