The Jets lost on Sunday, which makes it our sad duty to hand out an anti-game ball.
After Week 1 I awarded a special anti-game ball to the entire Jets team. I easily could have done the same thing again, but I don’t want to do it every single week. It seems like we will have plenty more opportunities to give out group anti-game balls through the season.
There were plenty of contenders for this dubious distinction this week. Marcus Maye was routinely beaten by Jordan Reed in coverage, including a pair of touchdowns against. He would have been a logical choice, but I decided against giving it to him mainly because of what happened Week 1. Maye was one of the few Jets who showed up against the Buffalo Bills. He would have been a game ball candidate had more Jets played like him, and the team won the game.
Instead I am going to go with Henry Anderson. After a productive 2018 led to a lucrative contract extension, Anderson has been a major disappointment. In this game he was most noticeable for committing a really bad roughing the passer penalty. Less visible was him getting pushed away on Raheem Mostert’s 80 yard touchdown run and the third and 31 conversion the Jets allowed.
Henry Anderson gets my anti-game ball.
Who gets yours?
