It’s the home opener for the New York Jets in the 2020 NFL season and the 49ers are in town.
The 49ers come into the game off a surprising loss to the Arizona Cardinals last week. The 49ers blew an early 10-point lead in falling to Arizona at home, 24-20. San Francisco allowed 180 rushing yards to the Cardinals, the most a 49ers defense has given up since 2017.
The Jets had just 254 yards of total offense against the Bills last week, with just 52 rushing yards. It’s difficult to win in the NFL with such an inept offense. It was a continuation of the offensive struggles the Jets went through in 2019, when they finished dead last in the NFL in total offense, and next to last in rushing yards.
The NFC opponent may be something the Jets are looking forward to. Sam Darnold is 4-3 in seven career starts against NFC teams, with 14 touchdowns, six interceptions and a 95.7 passer rating.
San Francisco leads the all time series between the two teams, 10-3, including a 6-1 record against the Jets when the Jets are home. The Jets won the most recent meeting in 2016, 23-17, with Bilal Powell scoring the winning touchdown in overtime.
It’s the New York Jets and the San Francisco 49ers in the second game of the 2020 NFL season. Please leave your comments in the section cleverly marked “comments” below. Enjoy the game everybody.
