Jets vs. 49ers: Five Bold Predictions

I’d like to make the bold prediction that things can’t get any worse, but playing against the 49ers coming off a week 1 divisional loss and a Super Bowl letdown does not bode well for a Jets team that is understandably at the bottom of nearly all power rankings. This has the makings of a bloodbath, but football is played on the field and not on paper, so we might as well go bold.

These predictions are pro-Jets, yet stretch the boundaries of probability. Claiming that the Jets score 20 points is not a Bold Prediction, nor is claiming that the Jets score 700 points. These predictions must be within the bounds of possibility, but also highly improbable. As always, the final score prediction remains a realistic guess at the result of the game and does not relate to the Bold Predictions.

Here are my five bold predictions for today’s game:

• Sam Darnold bounces back for over 300 yards and 4 TDs.
• Chris Herndon breaks 100 yards and scores a touchdown.
• The Jets force 4 turnovers.
• No 49er breaks 100 yards from scrimmage.
• The Jets score on special teams.
