A new season has begun. The Jets had their first game of 2020 yesterday. It was a loss. That means it is time to give out the first anti-game ball of the year.
There was no shortage of candidates. Almost everybody played poorly. There were few exceptions. My first instinct was to give the anti-game ball to Pierre Desir. Desir was signed by the Jets this offseason to hold down a starting role. He didn’t even make it to halftime of the first game before getting benched. That is truly exceptional.
Still it doesn’t seem right to direct all of that attention onto Desir. Everybody deserves the blame so I have decided to start the new season off by giving the anti-game ball for Week 1 to the entire Jets team. The players and coaches all deserve it.
The Jets were thoroughly outclassed in this game. They played poorly in all three phases, offense, defense, and special teams. The coaches didn’t prepare for the game.
With that in mind, everybody gets my anti-game ball. Who gets yours?
