The Jets are back on the training camp practice field today at the team facility in Florham Park, New Jersey, after a Sunday practice at MetLife Stadium.
The big news from Monday was that the Jets and Avery Williamson agreed to a modified contract, reducing the linebacker’s salary. All offseason and into training camp there were rumors the Jets would part ways with the linebacker who had a large cap hit. The new contract puts Williamson’s salary more in line with his production. It was a deal that made sense for both sides. With Williamson playing a nonpremium position and coming off a serious injury, it didn’t seem likely he would have a major market if he hit free agency. This is especially true given the NFL’s uncertain finances going forward.
