New York Jets Flight Connections 8/08/20

Hugh Douglas

Good morning, GGN! The Jets will begin to ramp up full team activities later this week as the COVID-19 protocols for acclimation progress in this strangest of all NFL offseasons. With Josh Doctson opting out due to COVID-19 concerns the Jets are short of wide receivers with significant NFL experience. This leads to speculation the Jets could soon be re-signing Demaryius Thomas. While NFL experience is desirable, it’s not clear Thomas can help the Jets much this late in his career. Personally I would roll with the many young unproven wide receivers hungry to grab the depth wide receiver positions wide open on the Jets right now, and monitor the cuts coming out of other training camps as the offseason progresses. This could be an opportunity for the likes of Vyncint Smith, George Campbell, Lawrence Cager or Jeff Smith, if they’re up to the task.
