Players placed on the list have either tested positive for COVID-19 or came into close contract with somebody who did. Bryce Hall, Shyheim Carter, and Ahmad Gooden have also been placed on the list by the Jets. These players will remain on the list until medically cleared to return.
Burgess began 2019 on the practice squad for the Jets, but numerous injuries at the linebacker position led him to be signed to the active roster and start 10 games. He recorded 80 tackles last season.
CJ Mosley opting out of the season left a starting spot open at linebacker for the Jets. Patrick Onwuasor, Blake Cashman, and Neville Hewitt figure to be among those competing for the job. Burgess figured to be in the mix with these players. We will now wait for updates about his status going forward.
