New York Jets Flight Connections 8/5/20

Bringing your daily links to the NFL’s New York Jets

Good morning, GGN! I hope you’re all having a great start to the day. With CJ Mosley opting out of the season, the Jets have a plethora of options going forward to hopefully take over for him. While Avery Williamson will be the one directly replacing Mosley, the Jets have options with Blake Cashman, James Burgess, Neville Hewitt, and Patrick Onwuasor. Onwuasor was in this same situation last year and didn’t necessarily ‘wow’ in Baltimore after Mosley departed for New York. Burgess was a sieve in coverage but did decently in the run. Neville Hewitt did okay, and Blake Cashman got hurt before we could really see what kind of player he is. Out of the group, I think Onwuasor becomes the guy to take over, as he can have success as the #2 with a strong #1 partnered with him as shown with his previous years with CJ Mosley. I wouldn’t be shocked if Cashman gets subbed into packages for passing downs, while Burgess and Hewitt fight for snaps down the line. It’ll be an interesting development to see going forward.
