The trade between the Jets and the Dolphins for running back Kalen Ballage is off according to Ian Rapoport.
More intrigue for former #Dolphins RB Kalen Ballage, who was to be traded to the #Jets: Source said he failed his physical with #NYJ because of a hamstring injury. So Ballage reverts back to MIA, who likely releases him. He could end up back with the #Jets when healed.

The Jets had agreed to trade a conditional seventh round pick to Miami for Ballage, a rare deal between the division rivals.
Rookie running back La’Michael Perine was injured in Sunday’s practice. Some might say Perine’s injury combined with the cancelled trade reduce the team’s depth at running back. I am not among those people. I can’t imagine Ballage had a big role in the Jets’ plans. You really can’t count on a back who averaged under 2 yards per carry a year ago having anything resembling a role. I can’t say this is a loss that has any major implications for the Jets.
In other news, the Jets claimed wide receiver DJ Montgomery off waivers.
Some moves, per the wire:
— Ian Rapoport (@RapSheet) August 30, 2020
— The #Jets claimed #Browns WR CJ Montgomery.
— The #Titans are hosting workouts for K Stephen Hauschka, along with Stephen Gostkowski.
— QBs Jake Rudock, Kyle Sloter, and Kyle Lauletta are working out for the #Falcons.
Montgomery was an undrafted free agent the Browns signed out of Austin Peay. Normally you would count out such a player from having a realistic chance of making the roster, but any wide receiver might have a shot for the Jets at this point.
