The Jets will sign wide receiver Donte Moncrief according to Ian Rapoport.
The #Jets are planning to sign veteran FA WR Donte Moncrief, source said, once he passes through his COVID-19 protocols. The former #Colts starter spent time with the #Panthers and #Steelers last year and recently worked out for NYJ, as well. He’ll provide depth.

Moncrief was originally a third round pick of the Indianapolis Colts in the receiver rich 2014 NFL Draft. He never quite lived up to expectations. Moncrief’s best season was 2015 when he registered 64 catches for 733 yards and 6 touchdowns.
He moved on to the Jacksonville Jaguars where he spent one season in 2018. He wasn’t that productive, posting a single 100 game that season. Of course that 100 yard game came against the Jets. His highlight was a 67 yard touchdown where he burned Trumaine Johnson, an early signal the Johnson signing was destined for failure.
Moncrief started 2019 with the Steelers but got off to a very poor start and was ultimately released. He then briefly joined the Panthers but was shortly released again.
It felt like the Jets needed to add a wide receiver, but there were not many options. The team will now hope Moncrief can revive his career in New York.
