Reports from Sunday’s practice at Jets training camp suggest things were intense.
Alex Lewis and Neville Hewitt with a little skirmish here in practice #NYJ

Now we have punches thrown between Jordan Jenkins and Alex Lewis #nyj

This practice has come off the rails. Jenkins came off the sideline now and is yelling at Van Roten. Looks like Darnold is trying to play peacemaker #NYJ

Gase: "A spirited practice to say the least." #nyj

Fights are a staple of training camp.
In other news Adam Gase reported the Jets had 10 false positive tests for COVID-19 on Saturday, which impacted the team’s schedule.
Adam Gase said the #Jets got 10 false-positive tests yesterday.

Jets canceled walk-through last night due to the breaking COVID-19 testing story, per Gase. #Jets

10 false positive tests for the Jets Saturday, so walkthrough was cancelled and building was closed.

Once tests kept back negative, Jets were cleared to practice Sunday.
They all came back negative in subsequent tests so the Jets went ahead with practice today. #nyj

This is part of a larger league wide issue. The NFL has released a statement on it.

Breshad Perriman reportedly sat out Sunday’s practice with what seems to be a minor injury.
The #Jets hope Breshad Perriman (knee) is back tomorrow. Had swelling yesterday, but he’s fine.
— Connor Hughes (@Connor_J_Hughes) August 23, 2020
The Jets have had a lot of injuries at the wide receiver position, but Perriman’s doesn’t sound too concerning.
Adam Gase provided other injury news.
Tackle Chuma Edoga did not finish practice today with a calf injury. #nyj

Patrick Onwuasor has a knee injury but no ligament tears. That’s good. #Jets
— Connor Hughes (@Connor_J_Hughes) August 23, 2020
The Onwuasor news does indeed sound good. We await additional information on Edoga. While he is not projected to be a starter, Edoga is the most likely candidate to fill the swing tackle role, the primary backup at both left tackle and right tackle. That can turn out to be a really important role for a team.
