Prior to Saturday’s practice the Jets activated linebacker Avery Williamson and tight ends Ryan Griffin and Daniel Brown from various injury lists.
#Jets LB Avery Williamson (knee/PUP), TEs Ryan Griffin (PUP/ankle) and Daniel Brown (NFI) are now on the active roster and practicing today.

Williamson missed the full 2019 season with a knee injury he suffered in a preseason game. Although Williamson had an excellent 2018 in his first year with the team, the Jets defense didn’t miss a beat with him sidelined last year. He is primarily a run stopper, and the team went on to have one of the best run defenses in the league without him. That said, the departure of Jamal Adams and CJ Mosley’s opt out might increase Williamson’s importance in 2020 (although Mosley missed most of last season as well).
Griffin had 5 touchdown catches last season starting in place of an injured Chris Herndon. With Herndon back, he figures to become the primary backup at the tight end position.
Brown will likely be competing for a roster spot at tight end.
