New York Jets Flight Connections 7/3/20

Good morning, GGN! I hope you’re all having a great start to the day. For some reason, Brian Costello seems to think that Jets’ G Alex Lewis will play an important part in Mekhi Becton’s development. It’s an odd stance to take considering that Lewis has only been a Jet for 1 year. Even more so considering that Lewis has graded out extremely poorly by places like PFF. Lewis isn’t known for having a ‘nasty’ gene like Brian Winters, nor is he a towering Tackle, the position Becton is expected to be playing. In fact, Lewis doesn’t play, or give any reason to suggest as to why his presence would be crucial in Mekhi’s development. In essence, this is just a pretty lazy comparison made by Costello. Given Lewis’ recent statements about Adam Gase it isn’t completely out of the realm to suggest that perhaps Joe Douglas chose Lewis for exactly that reason, but who’s to say?
