Training camp is getting started in the NFL. All teams dream of lifting the Lombardi Trophy at the end of the season. The dream is more realistic for some teams than it is for others.
Most teams in the NFL are both trying to win now and build for the future. A few clubs are at the extremes such as the Dolphins last year essentially giving up on making a run before the season started to stockpile future assets or the Rams trading every high Draft pick in sight to make a run. Most teams strike a balance between now and the future, but they might lean more on one side.
The trade of Jamal Adams for multiple first round picks and more helps show where the Jets are. This team will play hard and try to win in 2020, but it is clearly a team more focused on the future. We discuss that on today’s podcast.
Thanks for listening.
