New York Jets Flight Connections 5/30/20

Good morning, GGN! There is a lot of speculation these days that with Tom Brady departing, the Patriots are vulnerable and the AFC East is wide open for the first time in two decades. While Brady’s departure is significant, with Jarrett Stidham and Brian Hoyer currently heading up what is perhaps the worst QB room in the NFL, quarterback is not the only issue the Patriots face these days. The Patriots field the oldest team in the NFL, and particularly on defense, many of the projected starters are well past the date when significant age related decline can be expected. In addition, the Patriots may well field the least talented offensive roster in the NFL. It all adds up to opportunity for other AFC East teams. The Bills are the trendy favorite to dethrone the Patriots, but if things go right, any team in the East might reasonably expect to take the division. While teams other than the Patriots still have to prove it on the field, everything adds up to potentially the most exciting and unpredictable division race in years. Who knows, the Jets just might emerge with their first division crown since 2002, and just their third in the last half century.
