The New York Jets have selected safety Ashtyn Davis out of the University of California with the 68th overall pick in the third round of the 2020 NFL draft. This is the second pick for the Jets on Day 2 of the NFL draft, the first of three Jets third round picks, and the third pick for the Jets overall.
Ashtyn Davis is a 23 year old, 6’ 1”, 200 pound safety with a great motor. He projects as a free safety for the Jets, and he has a good deal of flexibility for his assignments. He can play deep middle, deep halves, in the box, and in the slot. He is a strong tackler who projects to fill a similar role as Marcus Maye for the Jets. The acquisition of Davis may signal the Jets intend to move on from Maye after this season.
Welcome to the Jets Ashtyn Davis. The Green and White is happy to have you.
The Jets remaining picks in the 2019 NFL draft are as follows:
Third Round: Pick #79
Third Round: Pick #101
