An unusually quiet Jets offseason in terms of players getting themselves into trouble was shattered last night when Jets defensive tackle Quinnen Williams was arrested by Port Authority Police at La Guardia Airport. Williams, the third overall selection in the 2019 NFL draft, was arrested on a weapons possession charge while trying to board a flight at La Guardia, according to the Port Authority.
Williams was reportedly taken into custody around 9:15 p.m. EST after he was allegedly found to have a Glock 19 pistol. The authorities said that Williams had a permit for the weapon in Alabama. Williams follows in the footsteps of former Jets first round defensive linemen Sheldon Richardson and Muhammad Wilkerson in what is becoming a Jets tradition over the last decade of getting into legal trouble.
Neither the Jets nor Williams have commented yet on the incident.
