NFL free agency continues.
The Jets had an active Saturday. Their most notable move was adding to their offensive line. After agreeing to terms with George Fant, Connor McGovern, and Alex Lewis early in free agency the team added a fourth offensive lineman. Greg Van Roten joins the Jets. Van Roten spent the last three seasons with the Carolina Panthers. He previously spent time with Jacksonville, Seattle, Green Bay, and Toronto of the CFL.
The Jets also released cornerback Darryl Roberts. Roberts had been with the team since 2016. Mainly a depth player in his career prior to 2019, the Jets gave him a raise and a starting job. It did not work out. Roberts’ release after the team’s previous release of Trumaine Johnson means the Jets cut both of their opening day 2019 starting outside corners in less than a week.
The Jets also made some smaller depth moves on Saturday by signing Josh Andrews and Marqui Christian.
