The Jets have agreed to terms with backup safety Marqui Christian.
Jets signed former Rams’ DB Marqui Christian, per source. He’s likely to be Jets third safety.

Christian was a fifth round pick by Arizona in 2016. He was waived early in his rookie year and was claimed by the Rams. He stuck with the Rams through 2019.
While the Jets might envision him as safety depth, I wonder how much this signing was made for special teams. To be honest I don’t have any in depth scouting report of Christian’s skills on special teams, but he did participate in over 80% of Rams special teams snaps last season.
I think former Rams special teams coordinator John Fassel is one of the best in the game. If Christian earned that much trust from Fassel, it leads me to believe he could become a core member of Brant Boyer’s unit going forward.
Christian played in college at Midwestern State and is 25 years old. He turns 26 in October.
