NFL free agency continues today.
The Jets began addressing their need at the cornerback position yesterday, agreeing to terms with slot corner Brian Poole on a one year contract. Poole put together a strong 2019 season and proved to be an upgrade over Buster Skrine. There is still much work to be done to upgrade cornerback, but this was a first step.
The Jets also said goodbye to Trumaine Johnson and Brandon Shell. Johnson was cut after a catastrophic two seasons with the team. He was the team’s big free agent signing two years ago. By the end of his time with the team he was unworthy of a starting role on a team that lacked quality at his position.
Shell was a fifth round pick in 2016. He started for the team for a few years but didn’t really develop.
