According to multiple reports, the New York Jets have agreed to terms to bring back slot cornerback Brian Poole on a one year, $5 million deal.
The 27 year old Poole was a pleasant surprise last year as he blossomed into one of the better slot cornerbacks in the NFL. Signing him for just $5 million appears to be an excellent value deal for Jets GM Joe Douglas. With Poole returning, the Jets will now at some point have to turn their attention to the outside cornerbacks, where the talent is less than premium at the moment.
After a somewhat slow start to free agency, the Jets have seemingly hit their stride with the signings of center Connor McGovern and cornerback Brian Poole the last two days. Joe Douglas’ plan is beginning to come together. Let’s see what else he can conjure up over the course of the offseason.
