For the first time in fifty years, the Kansas City Chiefs are Super Bowl Champions.
Kansas City registered a stirring 31-20 comeback win over the San Francisco 49ers in Miami to win the Vince Lombardi Trophy. Trailing 20-10 with under 7:00 left in the fourth quarter, the Chiefs scored the final 21 points of the game down the stretch to bring home the title to Kansas City.
A 1 yard touchdown pass from Patrick Mahomes to Travis Kelce cut the San Francisco lead to 20-17. A 5 yard scoring pass from Mahomes to Damien Williams gave the Chiefs the lead for good, and a 38 yard touchdown run by Williams put the game away.
This is the first Super Bowl win for Andy Reid as a head coach. Reid has been one of the league’s top offensive minds of the last two decades, but the sport’s ultimate glory had eluded him until tonight.
