Good morning, Gang Green Nation! Today is a rare and special day. Not because it’s Groundhog Day. That happens once a year. And it’s a pretty silly pseudo holiday. Not because it’s Super Bowl Sunday. That also happens once a year. And often the games aren’t that great. Nope, today is a much more unusual day than those annual events. Today is Palindrome Day. It is 02/02/2020, the day that reads the same forwards and backwards. And if you want to know just how unusual that is, well, I’ll tell you. The last time it happened that an 8 digit Palindrome Day occurred that worked both as a European date form and an American date form, there was no U.S.A. There was no Great Britain. There was no Magna Carta. The Knights Templar did not exist. The First Crusade was raging, and Henry I sat on the throne of England. It was 11/11/1111, more than 900 years ago. That’s how rare today is. So as you’re settling down to watch the Super Bowl or getting the news on the groundhog’s shadow, raise a glass to Palindrome Day. The next time this happens will be in 101 years, and none of us are likely to be around to see it. Let’s hope the Jets win a Super Bowl before 12/12/2121.
