The New York Jets have released veteran wide receiver Chris Hogan and elevated defensive back Elijah Campbell and linebacker Noah Dawkins from the practice squad to the 53 man roster ahead of Sunday’s game against the Oakland Raiders.
The 33 year old Hogan was signed by the Jets in training camp after a slew of wide receiver injuries left the team thin at the position. Hogan played in the first five games of the year before being sidelined with a high ankle sprain. He caught 14 passes for 118 yards for the Jets. The return of the Jets top receivers to good health over the last few weeks made Hogan superfluous.
Elijah Campbell is a 25 year old, 5’ 11”, 195 pound defensive back signed to the Jets practice squad in early November. Campbell previously played in the XFL and the Alliance of American Football. He was originally signed by the Cleveland Browns in 2018 as an undrafted free agent out of Northern Iowa.
Noah Dawkins is a 23 year old, 6’ 1”, 235 pound linebacker. In 2019 Dawkins played in 10 games with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, mostly on special teams. He was originally signed by the Cincinnati Bengals as an undrafted free agent out of The Citadel. The Jets signed him to their practice squad in September.
