I think whenever you get to this point in a lost season, there is a divide in the fanbase. Some fans want to win every week no matter the opponent. Others want to lose for Draft position.
I’m usually not a proponent of tanking, but given the unique circumstances of the Jets’ situation I have found myself rooting for losses for the first time.
Yesterday’s win over the Rams might eventually send Trevor Lawrence to Jacksonville. While I can’t agree with doom and gloom takes that all would be lost going forward without Lawrence, this particular prospect seems like an ideal fit at this point in Jets history. Landing a potentially franchise-changing quarterback to pair with a new coach, a big Draft class, and a large amount of cap space could make things a lot better very quickly, not to mention the long-term gains.
A win to improve the Jets’ record to 1-13 just doesn’t seem to accomplish much.
How do you feel? Are you happy with the outcome yesterday?
