The 9-4 Cleveland Browns come into this game off a damaging loss to the Baltimore Ravens last week. Prior to that loss the Browns had won four straight, putting them in prime position to make the playoffs. Now, with the Baltimore Ravens and the Miami Dolphins already winning today to get to nine wins on the season, there is a five team logjam all at nine wins in the AFC. A win today keeps the Browns ahead of the pack, while a loss to the Giants puts them in a big scrum over the final two weeks to secure a playoff spot.
The 5-8 New York Giants also come into this game off a damaging loss to the Arizona Cardinals after winning four straight. In any other division the Giants would already be out of the playoff picture, but in the NFC East the Giants are playing for a tie with the Washington Football Team for the lead in the division.
Two teams fighting tooth and nail for playoff berths late in the season. That’s the way prime time football in December should be. It’s the Browns and the Giants on Sunday Night Football.
