In the Jets’ 14th game of the 2020 season, on a gorgeous, warm and sunny late autumn day in Inglewood, California, the New York Jets defeated the Los Angeles Rams, 23 - 20 for their first win of the year.
The Jets dominated the early action. They opened the scoring with a long touchdown drive. From there the Jets defense dominated the Rams offense throughout the first half. A Bryce Hall interception and a J.T. Hassell blocked punt led to two Jets field goals as the Jets took a 13 - 0 first half lead. The Rams closed out the first half with a last minute drive for a field goal and the Jets took a 13 - 3 lead into the locker room.
The Jets opened the second half with a long touchdown drive to take a commanding 20 - 3 lead, but the Rams answered with a quick touchdown drive of their own to pull back within 10 points. The Jets answered that with a long field goal drive and the Jets went into the 4th quarter with a 13 point lead.
The Rams fought back to pull within three points at 23 - 20, but the Jets iced the game on a crucial third down conversion pass from Sam Darnold to Frank Gore.
With the win the Jets bring their record to 1 - 13 on the year and lose the inside track in the Trevor Lawrence derby.
