Today we have a NFL Saturday doubleheader. In the first game the Denver Broncos host the Buffalo Bills.
The 5-8 Denver Broncos are just playing out the string at this point in the season. The Broncos are coming off a 32 - 27 win over the Carolina Panthers last week. The 32 points the Broncos scored were the most by the Broncos since their 37 - 28 win over the Jets 11 weeks ago. The Broncos have struggled to score all year, scoring 21 or less points in nine of their 13 contests. They have also struggled stopping other teams from scoring, giving up 26 or more points in nine of 13 contests. It should not come as a surprise that the Broncos will not be going to the playoffs this year. We will see how motivated they are to play spoiler against the Bills today.
The 10-3 Buffalo Bills come into this game with a two game lead in the AFC East standings. A win today against the Broncos would all but clinch the AFC title for the Bills. The Bills have won six of their last seven, and they are very much in the running for the #2 seed in the AFC playoffs.
A Broncos team playing only for pride against a Bills team fighting for a division title. That would seem to favor the Bills today. But Denver is a notoriously difficult place to get a road win, so you just never know. It’s the Broncos and the Bills in the first game of a December Saturday doubleheader.
