On the Jets loss to the Raiders:

I love how many articles there are about how the coaches couldn’t get over this loss. Getting over loses is literally all this coaching staff has been training for. At this point it should be harder for them to get over a win.

On the Jets loss to the Seahawks:

The game was a lot closer than the score would indicate. A break here or there and the Jets lose by a mere 20.

Great come from behind victory for SEA!

-at large

After going down by a seemingly insurmountable 3 points early on, Seattle slowly battled back over the course of the game to narrowly eek out a 40-3 victory

On the Jets constant roster turnover:

You know, not for nothing, but is it impossible that the Jets could keep guys that, you now, play well for them? That Kicker Myers is on some hot streak. Remember him? Roberts at the top of the returning charts. Remember him? Jamal kicking our ass. Leo 2nd among DIs in Sacks. Robbie 11th in the NFL is WR Yards. Demario Davis is a beast. And played well for us in his last year. At OT. Fant has an overall 64.1. Shell, 72.1 - at half the price. I mean, you look at the Steelers, for example. Ben. DeCastro. Villanueva. Heyward. Tuitt. Guys play there for over a decade. What the hell is the matter with us? Friggin treadmill to nowhere.

On the benefit of a middle of the pack coach:

I’m telling you, you could take this exact same roster, and put a middle of the pack coach, say like a Brian Flores, and this team is a 6 win team. Gases offense and game plans are so inexcusable the only explanation I have is he is in on a tank.

A good coach finds a way to win 5-6 games with this roster. A meh coach, 3-4 games. Then there’s 50 feet of crap and there’s Adam Gase

On still caring for the jets:

I know, right? Maybe I’ve drunk the Kool Aide (as others have accused me of in other posts), but in my defense (maybe), said-drinking follows many years now of wearily not drinking the Kool Aide. I think the future is likely bright: IF we get the first pick, which makes the rest of the season very interesting to me. My reasoning (hardly original) in brief: * Joe D seems really legit to me: well respected, seems to have had a great draft, and moreover, I just loved his draft philosophy, which seemed smart and cool-headed; that’s one of the two most important factors in my optimism * Trevor Lawrence is the other main factor in my optimism. Yes, yes, maybe he won’t be all that. We can’t know. But I take it pretty seriously that pretty much the entire media-draft community views him as a generational prospect like Manning, Luck, and Elway. And those are the only names that keep being bandied about. And while there’s always hype, these kinds of comparisons are just not routinely made by large numbers of analysts in a typical draft. * The rookie class itself (really promising at key positions! including two positions that will help Lawrence immediately!) * All that cap space... in a year when most teams are over the cap (which *entirely* changes the dynamic of free agency and makes bargains way more likely) * Quinnen and the D-line IF we get Lawrence, man, there’s a lot to like, IMO. And so, while I’m somewhat ashamed to admit it, I’m pretty avidly rooting for the team now... to lose. Never could bring myself to do that before. But I let out a hell of a “whoop!” when Ruggs got behind Lamar a couple weeks ago. Count me as invested and excited. Feels like dawn is coming.
