Thursday Night Football, Week 14. Tonight the Los Angeles Rams host the New England Patriots in a rematch of Super Bowl 53.

The last time these two teams met the Lombardi Trophy was on the line. Tonight’s game involves no such stakes, but the game has playoff implications for both teams.

The 8-4 Los Angeles Rams come into this game off a big win against their division rivals, the Arizona Cardinals, on Sunday. The Rams have won three of their last four games and are currently sitting atop the NFC West standings, tied with the Seattle Seahawks for first place in the division. Winning tonight against the Patriots is crucial for the Rams’ hopes of a division title.

The 6-6 New England Patriots have almost no hope of a division title. At three games back of the division leading Buffalo Bills with four games to play, it would take an epic Bills collapse, as well as the Patriots running the table, for the Patriots to win another AFC East Crown. Realistically, the Patriots’ only hope of a playoff berth is to snare one of three available wild card spots. The Patriots are currently a game back of the Las Vegas Raiders and the Baltimore Ravens for the seventh and final playoff spot in the AFC. A loss tonight would put the Patriots two games back in the loss column with just three games to play. That makes tonight’s game a must win for the Patriots.

This is a huge game for both team’s playoff hopes. It’s the New England Patriots and the Los Angeles Rams on Thursday Night Football. Enjoy the game everybody.
