SNF: Bears vs Packers Game Thread

Sunday Night Football, Week 12. Tonight the Chicago Bears visit the Green Bay Packers in a renewal of one of the NFL’s longest and most heated rivalries.

The 5-5 Chicago Bears come into this game desperate for a victory. After opening the season with five wins in their first six games, the Bears have now lost four games in a row. During their losing streak the Bears have managed to score more than 17 points in a game just one time. The Bears defense is good enough to keep them in almost every game, but the offense has become so bad it is very difficult to win. A win tonight against the Packers would pull the Bears within one game of the division lead. A loss would not only all but extinguish the Bears’ chances for a division title, it would all but extinguish the Bears’ playoff chances altogether.

The 7-3 Green Bay Packers come into this game off a tough loss to the Indianapolis Colts. After beginning the season with four consecutive wins, the Packers have fallen into a funk, losers of three of their last six. A win tonight against the Bears would all but clinch a division crown and keep the Packers in the hunt for the top seed in the NFC and a coveted first round bye. A loss to the Bears would reduce the Packers’ lead in the division over the Bears to just one game.

This is the time of the year when every game among the contenders feels like a playoff game. Late season prime time football with major playoff implications is what it’s all about. It’s the Bears and the Packers on Sunday Night Football.

Enjoy the game everybody.
