Jets injury update: Rookie RB La'Mical Perine is likely heading to IR with a high-ankle sprain. Get ready for a whole lot of Frank Gore. RT George Fant is week-to-week with ankle and knee sprains. Chuma Edoga, who would replace him, has a low-ankle... https://t.co/X5Or3FIvoF

Perine was playing one of his best games, scoring his second touchdown on the season against the Chargers.
The Jets are obviously past the competitive portion of the season. The team was officially eliminated from postseason contention following Sunday’s defeat. At this point all of the focus is on 2021 and beyond. That means getting young players into the lineup so they can get game experience and hopefully improve. In that context Perine is a tough guy to lose. Frank Gore is a legend and deserves a lot of respect, but he was already getting too many carries. Hopefully for the Jets they can get the rookie running back healthy enough to return before the end of the season.
