I first joined GGN in 2011, during the offseason. In one if the threads, I started up a conversation with a couple of members that was not related to the thread topic. One of those members suggested we continue the conversation in the TAN. TAN? I asked. What's that? I asked. Oh, it's the Thread About Nothing. A place where we talk about anything we want. Sounds good, I said, and headed on over. I met a lot of people there, and we had a LOT of conversation (we hit 1000 comments in the course of 1-2 days). So I stayed. That was before the 100th TAN; there have been more than 100 since.
Since that time, a lot of people have come and gone (some of them not without drama). The TANLAN was born here. TAN regulars remained a small group; only those of us who come to GGN to talk about things in addition to football. Over the years, we have become a small online family; sharing things about our lives, trading book and movie recommendations, giving each other advice. We watched one of our members get married and have children, saw another one relocate to another city to become a police officer and watched him advance to detective. And we mourned the death of one of our members, Bronco Mike (RIP).
When SB Nation introduced the new Coral commenting system, comments began to wane, not just in the TAN, but in all the GGN threads. Then the season started, and the Jets sucked, as usual. More people stopped dropping by. The TAN has always been a member-driven fanpost; any member can post one. And every time a TAN reached its limit, for the past 9 years, a new one is posted, and we start all over again.
Then, about 2 weeks ago, something happened. The TAN hadn't seen any activity for several days. I put a call out to members; only one responded. On November 13th, 30 days after its inception, TAN #232 expired, and for the first time in 9 years, a new one did not appear in its place.
They say that all good things must come to an end. I am posting this in the hope that this is not the case with the TAN. To my friends: if this is the day the TAN dies, I will miss you and wish all of you well (to fly14 especially, who has not been around in a while: I hope you are ok).
Here are the TAN rules. Memorize them. There will be a quiz at the end of this thread.

2) If Mr. Wells or any other moderators or editors ask you to drop something, just let it go. Please don't argue. It won't end well.
