The Jets announced they have signed backup offensive lineman Conor McDermott to a one year contract extension.
We've signed OL Conor McDermott to a one-year contract extension.

McDermott has seen extensive playing time in losses this season to the Colts, Broncos, and Dolphins due to injuries on the offensive line. His play has been poor in those games.
I would have to assume this is a very low dollar contract that only guarantees McDermott a spot in training camp next year. It might be as simple as taking care of that early rather than waiting until after the season.
Based on his play this year, I would find it a bit disappointing if the Jets could not find somebody to beat him out for a roster spot in training camp next year.
McDermott turned 28 years old last month and has previously spent time in the Buffalo and New England organizations. The Jets claimed him off waivers from the Bills last year.
