TNF: Buccaneers vs Bears Game Thread

Thursday Night Football, Week 5. Tonight the Tampa Bay Buccaneers head north to the Land of Lincoln to take on the Chicago Bears in a matchup of two 3-1 teams. After a slew of uninspiring Thursday Night games, this one looks to be a good one.

The Buccaneers come into this game winners of three straight after an opening day loss to the New Orleans Saints. Tampa Bay boasts the 4th ranked defense in the NFL and the 2nd ranked rushing defense. This should prove a challenge to the Bears, who struggle in the passing game. If the Bears can’t run the ball against the Buccaneers, Nick Foles will need to work some magic in the passing game for the Bears to have a chance.

Tom Brady leads the Buccaneers offense, which has been on fire lately. After a couple of games to start the season where Brady was looking old, he has reversed course and now looks like the Brady of old. He caught fire in the second half of the game last week and ended up throwing five touchdown passes, a vintage Brady performance. Brady and the Buccaneers offense will be facing a Bears defense ranked 8th in the NFL, and a passing defense that has given up just three touchdown passes all year. If the Bears defense can shut down Brady and the Buccaneers passing game, the 27th ranked running game of the Buccaneers isn’t likely to scare anyone.

It’s the Buccaneers and the Bears in the Windy City on Thursday Night Football. Enjoy the game everybody.
