On what Chris Johnson actually said about Adam Gase:

Maybe he was misquoted and actually said “he is a brilliant, offensive mime.”

On Adam Gase:

Genius is never understood in it’s own time. Then again... neither is incompetence.

On the Jets’ offensive ineptitude:

The Jets had 254 yards of total offense against the Bills. In the last 20 years, 321 games (including the first game of 2020), the Jets had 29 games with 260 yards or less of total offense. In 17 games, Adam Gase has 7 of those 29 performances. More than 40% of Jets games under Gase have seen 260 yards or less of total offense. Brilliant offensive mind.

-MacGregor Wells

On a Jets conundrum:

The biggest problem we have is even if we fire Gase the guy picking his replacement is the guy who thought hiring Gase was a good idea.

-John B

On the Jets in recent seasons:

This is my first post ever. I just want to get mad again when the jets lose. for 3 years I have not cared.

On Joe Douglas:

I think JD is going to be a good GM. Love the Adams trade and Becton. Hopefully Mims is the real deal. However JDs not perfect. No GM is and it’s easy to armchair QB but here is it goes for his mistakes : • Letting Robby walk for a pretty fair contract • Not Drafting at least one more WR • Not signing a better CB. Desir is hot garbage. CB is just as thin as WR

I firmly believe (at least hope) that Douglas took the GM job with a six year deal so he could make a change at year 2 if AG wasnt succeeding. He would still be able to get a high quality HC and be married to that choice, and CJ would put the HC reporting to the GM. That would end the dysfunctional cycle of GM/HC not being on the same page. With that said if, and its a big “IF”, we land the #1 pick (Giants/falcons/texans all at 0-4), then you draft Lawrence and trade Darnold for a #3. That would put GM/HC/QB all together and keep the keep the salary cap in balance while we build the team. Darnold is too far along now and would have to get paid big just as the team needs to add lots of talent via free agency. Sad, but its what happens when your plan is flawed, and the Jets have been very flawed through the Sam era (error) ... If Douglas is any good as a GM and talent evaluator we could finally get on the proper path ...

On who to hire for head coach:

All in on Arthur. The only man that knows how to Un-Gase a QB.

On what could have been:

Who’s ready for the sad news of the day?

One league insider told Matt Miller that the Jets believed they had locked up John Harbaugh to replace Todd Bowles after the 2018 season. They had reached an agreement when Harbaugh was expected to be fired after the Ravens were playing terribly and Lamar was on the bench. Of course, Harbaugh eventually benched Flacco and Lamar led the team to the playoffs. Harbaugh kept his job and the Jets hired Adam Gase. So yes, in a very direct way, Lamar Jackson’s brilliance is the reason the Jets have Adam Gase instead of John Harbaugh as HC right now.
