The Jets have announced Joe Flacco will be their starting quarterback this Sunday against the Arizona Cardinals. Sam Darnold has been ruled out of the game with a shoulder injury.

Darnold suffered a shoulder injury in the first half against the Broncos. He briefly left the game before returning. I still am waiting for somebody in the organization to explain why Darnold was put back into the game. If he suffered an injury serious enough for him to miss weeks, it doesn’t make much sense to me how he would be allowed to play against Denver shortly after he suffered it.
In any event, this scenario is the reason the Jets signed Flacco in the offseason. He will have his work cut out for him. It has been years since he has been able to play effectively, and the offensive infrastructure currently in place is not going to provide him with much support.
