The New York Jets lost to the Denver Broncos on Thursday, a fourth consecutive loss to start the season. How do the power rankings feel about the latest Jets loss? Let’s find out.
32) New York Jets (0-4)
It wasn’t against the greatest of competition, but the Jets showed some signs of life against Denver. That was particularly true for Sam Darnold, who certainly hasn’t given up the ship. What is maybe most noteworthy is that Adam Gase wasn’t relieved of his duties during this long week, but PFN Draft Analyst and Insider had reported last Wednesday that Gase being fired was not imminent. Just like last week, the Jets are last in my NFL Power Rankings.
32. New York Jets (0-4)
Last week: Loss vs. Denver 37-28
Next week: vs. Arizona
Not a lot to say here.
32. Jets, 0-4 (32)
Bill Parcells also coached the Jets, and their record is 0-4 for a second consecutive season for the first time in franchise history. Adam Gase’s offense is tied with the Giants’ unit for the fewest offensive yardage output per game (278.0) in the league. And way too many personal fouls by Gregg Williams’ defense. Next: Sunday vs. Arizona
32. New York Jets (0-4)
Week 4 ranking: 32
FPI chance to make playoffs: 0.2%
This might be too high, and that’s not a joke. The Jets are doing nothing well; they have nothing to hang their hats on as a source of optimism. They can’t score, can’t protect the quarterback, can’t cover, can’t tackle and can’t help themselves when it comes to dumb penalties. Consider: They have scored only five touchdowns, three of which came on broken plays when QB Sam Darnold made something out of nothing. Yes, they’re a mess.
32. Jets (Previous: 31): Another of pandemic’s very few silver linings is that NYJ fans aren’t paying to watch this team in person. Keep your hard-earned money, Fireman Ed.
Well, there it is, a clean sweep of the 32nd and last position in the NFL power rankings.
What do you think? Where should the Jets rank in the NFL power rankings?
