Monday Night Football, Week 4. In a pandemic special, tonight we have two Monday Night Football games that will be played, in parts, simultaneously.

In the opening game, the Brian Hoyer led New England Patriots head to Kansas City to be this week’s sacrificial offering to Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs. A COVID-19 test came back positive for Patriots starting quarterback Cam Newton, so the Patriots will be starting Hoyer at quarterback and trying to keep up with the Chiefs offense. Yeah, good luck with that.

In the nightcap, starting around the time the Chiefs and the Patriots start the second half of their game, the 0-3 Atlanta Falcons take on the undefeated 3-0 Green Bay Packers at Lambeau Field in Green Bay. On paper this looks like the second mismatch of the night. Matt Ryan and the Atlanta offense can score, but the Falcons defense can’t stop anybody. In the first three games of the year the Falcons have yet to hold an opponent under 30 points. The Packers are averaging more than 40 points a game on offense, as Aaron Rodgers is enjoying a late career rejuvenation. If nothing else this one should produce some fun offensive fireworks.

It’s the Patriots and the Chiefs and the Falcons and the Packers in the weirdest Monday Night slate in recent memory.

Enjoy the games everybody!
