Jets Make Flurry Of Roster Moves

The New York Jets have made a number of roster moves prior to Sunday’s game with the Kansas City Chiefs.

The Jets have activated cornerback Arthur Maulet off of the injured reserve list and placed safety Bradley McDougald on the injured reserve list.

In addition, the Jets have elevated linebacker Bryce Hager and wide receiver Jaleel Scott from the practice squad, and signed kicker Sergio Castillo off of the practice squad. Guard Cameron Clark has been ruled out for the game on Sunday due to illness.

Arthur Maulet has been out since week 2 with a groin injury. He played the first two games of the season, but did not take any snaps on defense, his role being limited to special teams. With the poor play of the Jets cornerbacks, other than Brian Poole, this year, perhaps Maulet will have an opportunity to re-establish a role on defense.

The loss of McDougald to injured reserve mean rookie safety Ashtyn Davis will be a starter for the foreseeable future. It also likely means Marcus Maye will not be traded, as the Jets don’t have enough competent healthy bodies at safety now to withstand the loss of Maye.

The illness of Clark is a bit disappointing, as many Jets fans have grown tired of watching the current starters fail at guard and are looking forward to seeing what Clark brings to the table.
