It should come as no surprise, but the Jets are massive underdogs as they prepare for this weekend’s game against the defending Super Bowl Champion Kansas City Chiefs.
According to BetOnline.ag, the Jets have opened as a 21.5 point underdog. This would be the biggest point spread for an NFL game in seven years. Jacksonville was a 27.5 point underdog to Peyton Manning and the Broncos in 2013. Jets head coach Adam Gase was Denver’s offensive coordinator for that game. Denver won the game outright but failed to cover the spread.
As things stand, this would be the eighth biggest point spread on record. If you are looking for some silver lining, the favorite has failed to cover the spread in six of the seven games with a bigger spread. The bad news is the favorite won every game outright.
So it probably is not hyperbole to say a Jets win on Sunday would be the biggest regular season upset in NFL history.
