The New York Jets lost to the Miami Dolphins on Sunday, a sixth consecutive loss to start the season. At 0-6 the Jets are now the NFL’s sole winless team, and there is little doubt the Jets are the worst team in the NFL. The debate has at this point shifted to whether the Jets are the worst team in NFL history. How do the power rankings feel about the latest Jets loss? Not much in the way of surprises on that front.
32) New York Jets (0-6)
Just like the last three weeks, the Jets are last in my NFL Power Rankings. It really doesn’t get much worse than this at the NFL level. It was another pathetic performance by the New York Jets. The Joe Flacco-led offense converted just two of 17 third down opportunities in what was one of the worst offensive showings of the year by any team. Adam Gase has now coached 22 games for the Jets but has won just seven. Will he get to 23?
32. New York Jets (0-6)
Week 6 ranking: 32
Most impactful injury: QB Sam Darnold
Darnold has missed two starts with a sprained AC joint in his throwing shoulder. The offense, struggling even with Darnold, has bottomed out with Joe Flacco. In 25 possessions, Flacco has led the offense to only one touchdown drive. His lack of mobility and general rust have made him a sitting duck behind a leaky offensive line. It looks like Darnold could miss a third start on Sunday against the Bills.
32. New York Jets (0-6)
Last week: Loss at Miami 24–0
Next week: vs. Buffalo
The Jets are a total embarrassment, on the field and off.
32. Jets, 0-6 (32)
No way things can get worse for the unwatchable Jets after being blanked by the Dolphins for the first time since the 1982 AFC title game, right? They’ll need a win in one of the next three games before their bye week — against Buffalo, Kansas City or New England — to avoid the first 0-9 start in franchise history. Next: Sunday vs. Buffalo
32. Jets 0-6 (32): Quickly making case as worst team in NYJ history, no small feat. They’ve been outscored by 18.3 points per game for a differential of -110, nearly twice as bad as next-worst team (Jags, -56).
Well, there it is. The Jets are an embarrassment.
What do you think? Where should the Jets rank in the NFL power rankings? And more to the point, are the Jets the worst team in NFL history?
