Monday Night Football, Week 6. Ordinarily in the middle of the season there is only one game every Monday night. But in the midst of a pandemic this is anything but an ordinary year. Tonight football fans get treated to a rare mid-season Monday Night Football doubleheader. In the first game tonight the Buffalo Bills play host to the Kansas City Chiefs in what has the potential to be one of the best games of the year.
This one features an intriguing matchup between two of the best quarterbacks in the NFL thus far this year. The Chiefs’ Patrick Mahomes has already established himself as perhaps the best quarterback in the game. The Bills’ Josh Allen is looking to join in that conversation, and he has broken out in a big way so far this year.
The 4-1 Chiefs were sailing along, undefeated, until they got ambushed by their long time rivals, the Oakland Raiders last week. The Chiefs defense, which had been solid most of the year, was destroyed by the Raiders to the tune of 40 points and nearly 500 total yards. Patrick Mahomes and the dynamic Chiefs offense did their best to keep pace, putting up 32 points of their own, but in the end it’s really tough to win a game in which you surrender 40 points. The Chiefs will look to right the ship defensively against a tough Bills team tonight.
The Bills, like the Chiefs, took their first loss of the season last week after opening with four straight victories. The Tennessee Titans steamrolled the Bills in prime time, 42 - 16, as the Bills defense struggled badly and their offense couldn’t get going against a tough Titans squad.
These two first place teams will each look to bounce back this week in what could be a game full of offensive fireworks. It’s the Bills and the Chiefs in a battle of young quarterbacks on Monday Night Football.
Enjoy the game everybody.
