Jets head coach Adam Gase refused to offer any explanation of substance today when speaking to the media today regarding the team’s release of running back Le’Veon Bell.
Gase on Bell: “That was a consensus we came to last night. Spoke with him. For us we felt it was best we part ways. Gives him an opportunity to go somewhere else.” #Jets— Connor Hughes (@Connor_J_Hughes) October 14, 2020
Gase on Bell: “It was a tough decision to make, but we felt like it was the best for us.” #Jets— Rich Cimini (@RichCimini) October 14, 2020
Gase said he wants “nothing but the best” for Bell to go somewhere else and find success. Said it was a “tough decision to make.” #Jets— Connor Hughes (@Connor_J_Hughes) October 14, 2020
Gase was asked about the perception that he did not use him correctly and says it is "irrelevant."— Brian Costello (@BrianCoz) October 14, 2020
I rarely comment on what a head coach should say during a press conference, but it’s an absolute joke the Jets allowed Gase to go out there today and stonewall. Given everything that’s going on right now, the fans deserve some sort of explanation about what happened.
I know there will be a response, “What do you expect him to say?” I expect a legitimate answer about what happened. I don’t understand why that’s too much to ask. If Gase can’t provide it, the general manager or the owner should. Given the disaster the season has been, you can’t sweep it under the rug when you cut one of the few players on the roster with talent.
In other news after hinting earlier in the week he was considering giving up play calling duties, Gase today stated he will remain the team’s play caller.
