Podcast: Reaction to the Jets Cutting Le’Veon Bell

The Jets cut Le’Veon Bell last night after attempts to trade him failed.

After Sunday’s loss to Arizona, Bell liked multiple social media posts critical of head coach Adam Gase’ game plan. He also liked a post calling on the Jets to trade him.

On today’s podcast I offer some thoughts on the situation. Nobody comes out of this looking particularly good. Bell’s tenure with the Jets will be remembered as yet another big money free agent disappointment. There is plenty of blame to go around for this failure.

Still I have a difficult time with the way the end of Bell’s tenure played out. The coach who ran him out of town should not be here. Even considering how Bell underperformed, he was one of the few players who had any sort of talent, and his criticisms were correct in my opinion.

Things never should have gotten to this point.

It feels to me like the Jets weren’t satisfied with merely being the biggest laughingstock in the league. They had to escalate the situation. I elaborate on the podcast.

Thanks for listening.
