Final Score: Cardinals 30, Jets 10

NFL: Arizona Cardinals at New York Jets Vincent Carchietta-USA TODAY Sports

In the Jets’ fifth game of the 2020 season, on a cloudy and cool afternoon at MetLife Stadium, the New York Jets lost to the Arizona Cardinals, 30 - 10.

You know things are bad when the Jets play turnover free football, Jamison Crowder has over 100 yards and a touchdown, Le’Veon Bell plays about as well as he has in his Jets career, Joe Flacco plays about as well as you can expect him to play, and the team still loses by three touchdowns.

The twin themes of this game were lost opportunities on offense and a defense that can’t stop anybody. The Jets offense turned two possessions inside the Cardinals’ 15 yard line into just three points in the first half. A ridiculous delay of game penalty off a Jets interception killed one chance, and two failed conversions on 3rd and 4th down and one yard to go at the Cardinals’ 13 yard line killed the other. As a result the Jets went into the half trailing by 14 points when it should have been a close game.

The Jets briefly made a game of it in the second half as they went on a long touchdown drive to pull to within a touchdown at 17 - 10. From there it was all Cardinals, as Kyler Murray and DeAndre Hopkins took over the game and the Jets defense was helpless trying to stop them. Three Cardinals touchdowns later the Jets were on the wrong end of a 30 - 10 score in a game that should have been closer.

With the loss the Jets bring their record to 0 - 5 on the year. It was another disappointing chapter in a disappointing year.

John will provide a more in depth recap of today’s game later. In the meantime leave your comments on the game below.
