It’s week five of the 2020 NFL season and the Arizona Cardinals are in town visiting the New York Jets. After a COVID-19 false alarm put this game briefly in doubt, we again are searching for signs of life and the first Jets win of the season.
The Cardinals come into this game off of two straight disappointing performances against The Lions and the Panthers. Cardinals quarterback Kyler Murray is off to a rough start to the season, with five interceptions in four games. Murray’s turnovers could prove important in this game, as the Jets best and perhaps only chance to win is through a big performance b the defense.
The Jets come into the game missing Sam Darnold for the first time this year. Veteran Joe Flacco replaces Darnold in the lineup, and although anything is possible, Flacco inspires little hope of a breakout Jets offensive performance. The Jets get Le’Veon Bell back for the first time since opening day. Perhaps Bell can inject a little life into the Jets moribund offense.
The Jets have opened the 2020 season with four straight losses. The Jets have been outscored 131 - 65 on the year. The defense has allowed more than 30 points in each of the last three games. The offense ranks 31st in points scored and the defense ranks 30th in points allowed. The once vaunted run defense ranks 22nd in the NFL. The best thing that can be said about the Jets right now is the kicker has been having a good year. We’ll see if the Jets can turn things around today against the Cardinals.
It’s the New York Jets and the Arizona Cardinals in the fifth game of the 2020 NFL season. Please leave your comments in the section cleverly marked “comments” below. Enjoy the game everybody.
